UGArden

UGArden began as a community garden on university land abutting the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, but it has grown into an ambition demonstration farm that hosts horticulture courses and produces food for three small produce markets.

Much of the produce grown at UGArden is distributed to families in need in the community through Campus Kitchen. Some produce is shared through the garden’s outreach program Grow it Know it at Clarke Middle School, Hilsman Middle School, Coile Middle School, and Burney-Harris-Lyons Middle School, and the garden supports four weekly produce stands at Clarke Middle School, Athens Community Council on Aging, Hilsman Middle School, and Coile Middle School. Produce is offered at a reasonable price for anyone and half off for those eligible for SNAP benefits.

Open volunteer hours are Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon.
