The School Garden Network is a partnership of Athens organizations that have come together to make sure that every school in Athens-Clarke County has a school garden that is accessible to enhance instruction that engages students, staff, families and the community.
KACCB maintains a database of school gardens projects to help build, teach in, and maintain gardens sites as outdoor classrooms. The group also offers:
- A listserv to connect teachers to garden resources and opportunities
- A website to make it easier for teachers to find the help and information they need
- A monthly Garden to Desk Newsletter to provide a quick snapshot of how to use the school garden to plant, teach, and eat each month.
- A partnership with the school district to locate gardens sustainably on school grounds.
- A central calendar to help promote local garden events and opportunities.
- A contact point for teachers to find what they need to teach in, maintain, and harvest from their school gardens.
