One Community Garden was established in 2012 as a place for people in Cobbham and Young Harris United Methodist Church to grow vegetables for themselves and friends. When Oconee Street Methodist burned the following year, displacing Action Ministries and its garden that supplied fresh vegetables to Our Daily Bread community kitchen downtown.
Action asked the volunteer gardeners at One Community Garden to take over, and they agreed. Today, the garden produces 30 to 50 pounds of fresh produce a week during the growing season, which goes to supplement the meals served to around 150 people each day at the community kitchen.
